Browser-based

Microphone Test with Private Playback

Record up to ten seconds, play the sample back privately, and confirm what you hear. Permission is requested only when recording starts.

What this result means
  • Browser observedThe page records a signal or capability the browser received.
  • You confirmedYou decide whether the physical response looks, sounds, or works as expected.
  • Browser cannot verifyComplete hardware health, hidden or intermittent faults, or manufacturer certification.

Microphone status

Ready

0.0s / 10s

Ready to record a short sample.

Optional

Browser communication-style microphone check

This requests voice-processing options commonly associated with browser calls. It is only a browser approximation, not a definitive video-call microphone test.

A real call in the affected native application remains the strongest confirmation. This check cannot certify FaceTime, WhatsApp, Messenger, Zoom, carrier calls, or another app.

Optional check status0.0s / 8s

Ready for an optional sample.

Requested processing summary

The processing summary appears after microphone access is granted.

Support and successful access do not prove that processing was fully applied. A browser may accept, ignore, disable, or partially apply these requests.

Optional result not recorded.

The sample and playback URL stay only in this component’s memory. Audio is never uploaded or stored in local storage, and all microphone tracks stop before playback.

The browser may select a different physical microphone or input route than a native application.

Privacy: Recorded chunks and the temporary playback URL remain only in this component’s browser memory. Nothing is uploaded or placed in local storage, and Delete recording revokes the playback URL.

Limitations: Browser processing may apply echo cancellation, noise suppression, or automatic gain. The browser cannot identify every physical microphone or guarantee which microphone was selected, and Bluetooth or another input route may be active.

This short functional test cannot measure calibrated sensitivity or frequency response, and it cannot diagnose internal microphone hardware.

What happened with the recording?

Open the closest symptom. Permission, audio routing, and different microphone paths can all affect one attempt.

Recording would not start

A denied permission, another app using audio, or an unsupported browser state is not proof of microphone failure.

Review and retry
The recording is quiet or unclear

Repeat in a quiet room at normal distance, then disconnect Bluetooth or USB audio and compare again.

Calls fail but this test sounds clear

Phones can use different microphone paths for calls, speakerphone, video, and recording. Compare those tasks separately.

What a microphone test can tell you

Browse all testing guides →
01

Permission was blocked

A denied or unavailable browser permission is not evidence of microphone failure. Review the site permission, close other apps using audio, and retry on a secure connection.

02

The recording sounds unclear

Repeat in a quiet room at a normal speaking distance. Disconnect Bluetooth or USB audio so the browser is less likely to select an external microphone.

03

The problem continues

Compare a normal call or trusted voice-recorder app. Different phone microphones can serve different tasks, so one browser recording cannot verify every microphone in the device.

A browser test is one part of a phone inspection. Repeat an unexpected result and combine it with ordinary real-world use before deciding that hardware needs repair.
